Abdominal Ultrasound

Intussusception (SonoVet ultrasound)

Abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure which can efficiently examine the abdominal cavity organs and provide insight into the underlying disease process to help form the next step in medical treatment/diagnosis.

Thoracic Ultrasound

Diaphragmatic hernia (SonoVet ultrasound)

There are times when a non-cardiac thoracic ultrasound may be required to assess diaphragmatic hernias and pericardial-peritoneal hernias; pulmonary, mediastinal and pleural masses; and pericardial and pleural effusions.

Sample Collections

FNA (SonoVet ultrasound)

Centesis and tissue sampling are performed via ultrasound guidance where there is good visualisation and decreases the risk of inadvertently damaging adjacent structures. These samples are collected for further diagnostic testing inhouse or sent to your clinic's preferred pathology lab.

Regional SA and Mobile Veterinarians

SonoVet Adelaide

Our ultrasound service extends across South Australia reaching clinics in regional areas.

Home visit service is available for mobile veterinary clinicians.

Please contact us prior to booking.

Echocardiogram

Doppler echocardiogram (SonoVet ultrasound)

Echocardiography is a complex, non-invasive diagnostic procedure which allows us to determine whether the presenting clinical signs are cardiac or non-cardiac in origin and whether there is a congenital or acquired cardiac disease. We accurately assess all aspects of the heart including the chambers, wall thickness, valvular motion, myocardial contractility and pressures.

We understand the importance of veterinary cardiologists in helping you manage your patient's case, thus when appropriate we will recommend you seek a second opinion and medical advice from a cardiologist.

Pregnancy Ultrasound

Feotus (SonoVet ultrasound)

Pregnancy Ultrasound is sensitive in diagnosing pregnancy. Detection can be as early as 10 days post breeding however it it is most reliable at ~25-35 days. It is as this time where fetal viability and gestation age can be determined. Ultrasound however cannot provide an accurate number of foetuses. This should best be determined via abdominal radiographs taken in late pregnancy ~60d.
